The National Wool Declaration (NWD) enables woolgrowers to promote their animal welfare practices (i.e. mulesing status) and the Dark and Medullated Fibre Risk (DMFR) of their wool to exporters, processors and retailers.
A review was carried out in 2023 and finalised in October of that year when version 10.0 of the NWD was approved. It came into force in July 2024.
